How to set up recurring tasks in your daily notes

How to keep one note per day in FixNote, carry unfinished tasks over, and set up tasks that show up on schedule: every day, on weekdays, or once a month.

Where do you jot down a small task, a thought after a call or an order number without making a new note every time? FixNote has a daily note for that: one note per date that collects all the small stuff. Here’s how to open it, how to carry unfinished tasks over, and how to set up tasks that appear on their own schedule.

How to open today’s note

Press Ctrl+D (⌘D on a Mac). If there’s no note for today yet, FixNote creates one with two sections, Tasks and Notes. You can also open it from Today in the sidebar or with the “Open today’s note” command in Ctrl+K search. Shortcuts follow the physical key, so they work in any keyboard layout.

Buttons in the note take you to the previous and next day. From today’s note you can open tomorrow’s straight away and write down what has to happen tomorrow.

There is only ever one daily note per date. If two devices both created one while offline, FixNote merges them into one when they sync.

How to carry unfinished tasks over

If the previous daily note still has unchecked tasks, today’s note reminds you: “Unfinished tasks from October 8: 3.” Press Move here and the tasks move to today and are removed from the old note. Undo in the message puts everything back. Not now leaves them where they are, and FixNote won’t ask again that day. Tasks never move unless you press the button.

How to make a recurring task

Call mom on Sunday, pay the internet bill on the 15th, water the plants every three days: tasks like these only need to be set up once. In a daily note, right-click the task, choose Repeat… and pick a rule. You can repeat a task every day, every weekday, on chosen days of the week, on a day of the month, or every few days.

The rule lives right in the task line:

- [ ] Call mom 🔁 weekly:sun

That’s why it syncs with the note and works on all your devices. When FixNote creates the note for a new day, it adds the tasks that fall on that day. You can also type rules by hand: daily, weekdays, weekly:mon, thu, monthly:15.

How to change or stop a repeat

To change the schedule, open Repeat… on the task in the latest note that has it and pick a new rule. New days take the rule from there, and daily notes already created for later dates follow along. To end the series, choose Don’t repeat or delete the 🔁 from the line.

Voice notes and Telegram into today’s note

Two switches turn the daily note into an inbox. With “Voice notes go to today’s note” (Settings → General), whatever you dictate is added to today. With “Messages go to today’s note” (Settings → Integrations → Telegram), everything you send to the Telegram bot lands there too. More on dictation is on the voice notes page.

What to do with the entries later

You don’t have to sort out the daily note every evening. Search and the assistant find text inside daily notes just as they do in regular notes. If a thought grows into its own topic, select it, press Ask AI and choose New note from this. Everything about daily notes is on the daily notes page.

Tomorrow morning, press Ctrl+D, write down the three things that matter most, and make one task you usually forget repeat on its own.
